Interpreting AlphaFold correctly: structure predictions need uncertainty information. Predicted protein structures can provide substantial support for biological research. However, their vivid presentation must not obscure the fact that they are models with regions of varying confidence. The AlphaFold database and EMBL-EBI training materials explain how confidence scores help. A structure prediction neither replaces every experimental measurement nor automatically tells us about a protein's function.
